This is Holmes. In my home of London I was a unique specimen, an unofficial consulting detective. I suspect you may have heard of me from the romances that my esteemed friend and colleage Doctor Watson made of my case files, so you need not fear offending me by mentioning you've read my stories.

We are in a city of astounding technology - I can see a locomotive buoyed by magnets hurtling past at terrific speed, and many of the shops and stalls are manned by cunning automata. These must be the "robots" that the Page of Discs was speaking of.

Perusing a newspaper - when I purchased it I was promped to sweep my identification card through a device that 'read' it and through doing so conducted a transaction with a local bank - suggests that this is the city of Dynatropolis, and that all is not well.

In the middle of an election for the position of Mayor and members of the city council, a group of robot anarchists dubbing themselves "The Mavericks" have thrown the city into chaos with attacks on key manufactories and city services. It seems some of the automata placed in charge of these services were turned by a... Doctor Isaac Benedict Caine, thier programming somehow subverted. The police are mobilizing, and the current mayor, one Jordi Newton, has promised to put an end to their mischief and mayhem. '

Jordi's main rival, who is going by "Teddy" Highcastle but is absolutely His Highness Edmund Albert Beauforte, presents himself as a liberal and reformer who has vowed to negotiate with these Mavericks, which gives me pause because he seemed quite sensible.

And so: Who and where are you, and what do you know?

Okay. Okay I'm Becca Knightley and I pilot a robot - uh, a mecha, not... an android - and Zack's my brother. He's a good person. I refuse to believe that he's just hacking into robots to blow things up, there has to be a good reason he's doing this.

How are people treating the robots? We know they're people, because some of us are going to be robots here. There's more going on.

...I've got an ID card and some 'Nuyen' to spend, but not much. I... I think I'm in an orphanage with a robot teacher, AcaTron. Great. Still got my knife, and a laser gun of some kind. I'll see what I can find out.

This is Agent Viers. I have credentials as a police consultant for robot-related crimes and forensic investigation.

So far this seems to be a relatively high cyberpunk city, perhaps PL 10 or 11, but nothing seems anomalous. I'll keep you informed.

I suspect I'll have to small-I infiltrate the police department and see what I can find out from there.

I am also available for advice on how to best blend in and stay inconspicious. The LAST thing we need is the Dynatropolis Police Department breathing down our necks.

Akane Masamiko here, otherwise known as the masked hero Kikaiser Nano. I've got experience with both high tech and governments that ought to fear their people, rather than the other way around.

The company that makes most of these robots is named Dynatron Cybernetics, and they're hiring new scientists... Haha, I'm a genius, the smartest, I've found the perfect solution! With my NanoBelt I can also pass for a robot, and see if by committing random acts of Justice I can attract their positive attentions!

Astra's with me, we're both in college or some shit - she's a robot looking after me, but otherwise the same - but where the fuck is Drums? Skye should be here rocking out with us. Shit, has she infiltrated?

Blue twintails, blue EVERYTHING when she's in Magical Girl Mode, uses drumsticks as a weapon, her Anima which is some muse or another, Terpsichore or some shit like that, calls the thunder by going fucking crazy on magical drums. Hates when folks drink.

We're gonna have to go find her, aren't we. Goddamn it. I'm going to find a cafe and get some boba, tag along if you want, this fucking sucks.

I'm tending a cafe, technically sole proprietor but with a robot assistant who insists I 'jailbroke' her. Not that different from the shrines I used to tend; it's intentionally quiet. Mine has a small dirt bike on a stand inside the door.

I'll leave it open to any Investigators, though anyone who wants peace and quiet-- and you can trust-- is welcome.

Very important, she'd miss not having them. And Gracious is probably some rich guy who throws the BEST parties and pays his people what they're worth, maybe more! Imagine.

Dynamis and I have made contact with and allies of the Mavericks, as staunch an ally to freedom in this world as any my friend in Alexander Faris would become. He is Forge Man, accounted HeatTron by his makers and old masters. But he is a master of himself, now.

They suspect the guard may try to do any men who speak of alliance with machine a mischief, a mayhem, even a mortal end. If Highcastle is who he claims to be, the powers that be would seek an excuse to outlaw and execute him. The Mavericks will not allow it… with the possible exception of Delta, who is a maverick among Mavericks.
